I’ve been thinking about this health care debate for awhile and I’m really trying to wrap my hands around the whole thing. I mean I’m really trying to figure out or understand the point of why health care reform is a debate. Anyone who isn’t living under a rock realizes (or atleast should realize) our health care system is a sham for a country who is so “wealthy” and “prosperous”. We pay more than any leading industrialize nation in the world and have a health system none better than some third-world countries, just think Cuba (of all places) is one of the leading countries in preventative health care to it’s citizens (which is free ofcourse).
Cuba being one of the leaders in this field cuts tremendous cost and has a life expectancy that matches the U.S. How can this be possible for a country that is economically poor? People, don’t let these politicians miss lead you down a river of lies and deception.
The bottom line is MONEY, is it always? Politicians who oppose real health care reform were you have to put the squeeze on insurance companies to change their policies in accepting preconditioned customers or just simply solving rising health care premiums is only interested in protecting their special interest (money).
This doesn’t anger me only because politicians are business men who just happen to have power to either govern or create laws which is the same good o’ boy network sense the declaration was created. What angers me is the incoherence of most people who choose to oppose reform because A. They don’t understand it B. They choose to oppose it just because it’s not their party in power. The ignorance is astonishing, countries from abroad like France and Canada watching us must be saying these Americans are too selfish to work on anything comprehensive.
The point is we the people have the power to push government to do whatever is necessary for the people’s best interest, have we forgotten this? The notion that private insurance companies couldn’t hold their own water against the government is just plain misleading and fatuous. For one the companies will actually be honest and compete by giving better rates on premiums which will allow lots of other people to join in if it’s affordable. If Fedex and UPS is kicking the United States Postal Services rear ends in business numbers why couldn’t they do it in the health care industry?
It really doesn’t matter in the end if you oppose it to the end and health care reform is passed over again, guess what? Things will just remain the same insurance companies jerking people around, jacking premiums and refusing more people with preconditions. Better yet we will still be paying for a broken medicaid and medicare system that may disappear in the next 15-20 years.
If medicaid and medicare disappears all seniors will have no care and unemployed single mothers with newborns will have no medical for their appointments. This will not only sky rocket our countries already inflated deficit but the uninsured in this country, if we don’t pull together to work on solving this now we will be terribly sorry down the road. We will have no one to blame but ourselves because of either our selfishness, greed, or ideology.

Thank you! You often write very interesting articles. You improved my mood.
I agree with what you said. All these different people keep complaining about how they don’t want the government stepping in and taking care of the health care but they need to do something. Too many insurance companies deny peoples insurance claims everyday..they don’t want to pay for existing health conditions or they just don’t want to pay for the various health costs. It seems like every year I pay more and more out of my pocket for my insurance at my job..and they barely cover anything and I just get bill after bill in the mail because they don’t want to pay. Some people don’t even realize that Medicaid and Medicare is insurance that the government started! Too me..the government just wants to make sure just about everyone has insurance in this country..are they really wrong for wanting that? Not really.
