Spongebob Squarepants debuted on Nickelodeon on May 1, 1999. Following the adventures of a sea sponge, who is shaped like a kitchen sponge, Spongebob is about the fictitious animals that live underwater in the town of Bikini Bottom. Spongebob lives in his pineapple house with his pet snail named Gary. His best friend Patrick, a pink starfish, lives nearby under a rock. Spongebob spends his days either working at the Krusty Krab as a fry cook, or spending time with Patrick around Bikini Bottom. The series revolves around the life of Spongebob, and the humorous occurrences in his life.

I have watched Spongebob since the beginning of the series. Part of what makes the show so appealing is that the show is presented to both children and adults. The lovable sponge can make children laugh and turn a bad day into a good day for adults. Working on an eight season, and renewed for a ninth, there are 140 different Spongebob episodes. It never gets old watching Spongebob and Patrick race to Jellyfish Fields where they attempt to catch a jellyfish in their nets. A day can never be considered complete until I have watched Spongebob and his pessimistic neighbor Squidward Tentacles work a shift at the Krusty Krab. The show is often broadcasted by satellite tv companies in New Jersey throughout the day, and is often available on at least one Nickelodeon channel.
